Infants Matching and fitting shapes into their correct places helps your baby’s eye hand coordination, visual perception and problem solving.  Activity: Shape Board What you need:

What to do:

  • To start with, use circles for your shape board. This is the first shape to start with because there are no corners to figure out. The square would be the next shape board followed by the triangle a more challenging shape to match

  • Cut out about six felt or sponge circles

  • Trace the circle shapes on your cardboard

  •  Put velcro or double sided tape on the back of the circles

  • Present to your baby for exploration

  • When interest begins to fade, share this book with them about shapes

  • Let your child lead and observe what they are focused on or trying to do and then respond to their intent and interest
